BLUCONNECT / USER GUIDE

Energy and bills

Last updated: 7 October 2026

The energy dashboard shows your home's electricity use hour by hour and day by day: how much each device uses, this month's total and where the month is heading. The usage dashboard itself is free; the bill amount by tariff and cost per device come with BluConnect Plus.

Opening the energy dashboard

You can reach the dashboard from several places:

  • Account › Control › Energy
  • By tapping today's usage tile on the home screen
  • From the settings of a device that measures usage: Device settings › ENERGY › Measures usage · Energy panel

What the dashboard shows

  • The tiles at the top: Today, This month and (when there is usage this month) Month-end estimate. Each shows kWh; once you enter a tariff, the amount appears below.
  • Period selector: Today (hourly bars), 7 days and This month (daily bars).
  • Devices: devices with usage in the selected period, sorted from most to least; each row shows kWh, percentage share, the data source and (Plus) the cost. Tapping a row opens the device's settings.
  • Unmetered devices: devices that turn on and off but can't measure their own usage; you can enter an hourly usage for them here.
  • Tariff: the Electricity tariff row (Plus).

How usage is measured or estimated

Under each row in the device list you'll see where the data comes from:

  • Measured: the device's own energy counter (for example a smart plug or meter). This is the most accurate value.
  • From live power: if the device only reports its current power (W), usage is calculated from those readings over time.
  • Estimated: if the device doesn't measure anything, the hourly usage you entered × the time it stayed on.

Readings are taken while the app is open and kept on this phone, per home. For devices with a counter the gap is caught up later; for live power and estimates, time when the app was closed isn't counted.

Entering hourly usage for an unmetered device

  1. On the energy dashboard, under Unmetered devices, tap the device row that says Enter usage (or open the device's settings).
  2. In Device settings › ENERGY › Hourly usage, type the value in kWh/h. The rated power on the device label (W) ÷ 1000 gives you this value; for example 1.5 for 1500 W.
  3. Go back. While the device stays on, its usage is calculated as Estimated.

If you leave the field blank, the device isn't counted.

Entering your tariff (Plus)

  1. On the energy dashboard, tap Tariff › Electricity tariff.
  2. Pick a template: Simple (taxes included), Turkey residential or Turkey three-rate. The template fills in the structure and rates; switching templates resets the values you entered.
  3. Under Currency, pick TRY, USD, EUR or GBP; for any other currency, type its three-letter ISO code in the Other field.
  4. Enter the unit prices from your bill (Unit price, or the price of each time band).
  5. Fill in tiers, other charges and taxes if needed, then tap Save.

If there is usage recorded this month, the This month so far amount at the bottom updates instantly as you type.

Time bands, tiers and taxes

  • Time bands: with Add time band you can set up to four bands (for example Day, Peak, Night). Each band starts at the hour you set and lasts until the next one; it can wrap past midnight.
  • Tier: choose None, Monthly or Yearly. Once total usage in the period passes the Threshold, usage above it is charged at the Price above threshold.
  • Distribution / network charge: a charge added per kWh.
  • Fixed charge: a fixed amount per day.
  • Energy tax: a percentage added to the energy charge only.
  • VAT: a percentage added on top of everything.

With the Simple template, don't enter taxes separately; just type the single price with taxes included from your bill.

Device share and month-end estimate

With Plus, the amount in the Devices list is the device's kWh share of the selected period's bill (including tiers, fixed charge and taxes), not just kWh × unit price. The month-end estimate projects this month's usage so far over the rest of the month: without a tariff it shows kWh only; with a tariff it also shows the expected bill.

FAQ

The dashboard is empty and says "No data for this period". Why?
Data is only recorded for devices that measure usage (smart plugs, meters) or devices you've entered an hourly usage for, while the app is open. If you have no such device, enter an hourly usage for one under Unmetered devices.

Is my energy data shared with other phones?
Yes. Your tariff, the hourly usage values you enter and the usage history are stored in your BluConnect account, per home; every member of the home sees the same dashboard on every phone. Every phone with the app open contributes to the records, and the same usage is never counted twice. Guests can see the dashboard but can't change the tariff or usage values.

Why don't I see any amounts?
Amounts by tariff are a BluConnect Plus feature and need a tariff with prices entered. Without Plus, the Tariff row says "With Plus: your bill by tariff and cost per device". Usage (kWh) shows on every plan, and your past records are ready when you upgrade.

Will the amount exactly match my bill?
It's an approximation. Only devices connected to BluConnect that are measured or estimated are counted; other usage in your home shows up on your utility meter but not on the dashboard.
