What is Home Hub and when do you need it?

Most homes do not need Home Hub: every supported connection, Matter included, works from the phone. The Hub is a small always-on service at home that helps in three cases.

When do you need it?

• Zigbee devices (with a Zigbee coordinator on the Hub)
• Controlling local devices while away
• Timed and triggered routines with local devices while your phone is off

Where does it run?

On a computer, a Raspberry Pi or as a Home Assistant add-on. It pairs with the app using a 6-digit code. Homes without a Hub still get time and sunrise routines from our server, via cloud accounts.
