Control TP-Link Tapo and Kasa plugs and bulbs locally
Last updated: 5 October 2026
TP-Link devices are controlled over your Wi-Fi without going to the cloud. Tapo devices need your Tapo e-mail and password for local encryption; it is used only to derive the local key, with no cloud calls. Older Kasa devices need nothing.
Which devices?

- Tapo L5xx bulbs and strips
- Kasa plugs and switches
- Tapo cameras (ONVIF)
How does it connect?
Add device → found on your Wi-Fi. Tapo asks for account details once; for cameras, create a "Camera account" in the Tapo app and add via ONVIF (port 2020).
What can you do?
- On/off, brightness, colour
- Live power, daily and monthly use on P110
- Per-device share of your electricity bill
- Live camera view and pan/tilt
